Historic West Point Road Home Destroyed By Fire
An historic home, situated at 310 West Point Road, was completely destroyed last week when a fire broke out inside.
Emergency personnel received the house fire call around 4:00 Thursday afternoon. Officials indicate a motorist noticed the blaze while passing by and placed a 911 call to summon help.
When they arrived on the scene, officials with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department report that the home was already fully engulfed in flames, with flames burning heavily through the roof.
Heat from the blaze was so great that the vinyl siding on a neighboring home was melted, along with toys and a basketball goal in the back yard.
Although they were unable to save the structure itself or anything inside, firefighters were able to save a restored, antique truck along with the family’s two St. Bernard dogs that were penned in the back yard.
The home was owned by residents Carlton and Debra Staggs. No one was home at the time the blaze was reported.
At the current time the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
